Troubleshooting

Take these steps to resolve your problems...

1. Check your typing!

Pepperio can be very fussy regarding syntax, and especially spelling errors. Are your component values surrounded by quote marks? Do each of your Tag attributes end with a comma? Do your tags start and end with a % mark?

Is the relationship between a Snippet and a Component broken because the names don't match? The name of the Snippet must be the same as the snippet reference in the component.

2. Isolate the Problem

Is this an error that is browser or platform specific? Try the page in other browsers, on other systems.

Is the problem with the structure? That could indicate the fault lies in a layout or snippet. Is it related to the presentation? Check your CSS and Javascript and snippets if things aren't appearing or behaving as expected. Or is the problem associated with the content?

Check the three environments; maintenance, preview and the live site if pages have been published. Is the error unique to one of these or common to all?

Need to check that a snippet is  being displayed by a component? Don't rely on the tag rendering correctly - the tag could be the problem - throw some random characters in at the start of the snippet - do these appear on the page? If so, the snippet/component relationship is fine, problem most probably lies with the tag.
